David Keene at CPAC Chicago Panel on Second Amendment

On June 8, 2012, the National Rifle Association (NRA) hosted a panel entitled "Defending Self-Defense: The Liberals' Shadow War on the Second Amendment" at a Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) event in Chicago. Speaking on the panel were Maria Heil of the Second Amendment Sisters, Richard Pearson of the Illinois State Rifle Association, and Kimberly Jo Simac, the author of the children's book, "With My Rifle By My Side: A Second Amendment Lesson."

The following video contains excerpts of remarks made by the panel's moderator, NRA President David Keene. Keene provides a revealing history of how/why the NRA took a turn to the hard right politically in 1977. He also makes a number of comments that have little or nothing to do with guns. For example, he boasts of NRA support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in the recent recall election and opposition to long-serving Indiana Senator Dick Lugar, who lost in a primary election one month ago. Finally, Keene tells an interesting story about pistol-packing judges on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
